Answers to most common questions about buying suppressors from Airlock Industries.
How to Buy a Suppressor Plus
  1. Add the suppressor to your cart.
  2. At checkout, enter your FFL dealer’s address as the shipping address.
  3. We will contact your FFL directly and collect all necessary documents to transfer the suppressor to them.
  4. You will receive an email once your suppressor is en route to your FFL.
  5. When the suppressor arrives at your FFL, visit them to complete your ATF paperwork.
  6. If your FFL has a Silencer Shop Kiosk, you can complete all required paperwork using the kiosk.
  7. Once your Form 4 is approved, return to your FFL and pick up your suppressor.
What states are suppressors legal in? Plus

Suppressors are legal to own in most U.S. states as long as you follow federal NFA requirements. However, a small number of states prohibit civilian ownership outright.

What states are suppressors illegal in? Plus

Suppressors (sound moderators) areprohibited for civilian ownership under state law in the following states:

  • California
  • Delaware
  • Hawaii
  • Illinois
  • Massachusetts
  • New Jersey
  • New York
  • Rhode Island
    Additionally, suppressors are also banned in Washington, D.C. (not a state but relevant for legal purposes).
Can I use a smaller caliber in my suppressor? Plus

Yes. If you are using a Zero Gravity 7mm suppressor, you can safely run smaller calibers such as 6.5mm or 6mm. You cannot use a caliber larger than what the suppressor is rated for. For example, you cannot run 7 PRC through a 6.5mm suppressor.

 Is there still a tax stamp after January 1, 2026? Plus

Yes. The tax stamp requirement is still in place. You will still need to complete all required ATF paperwork and receive an approved tax stamp. However, the tax stamp fee has been reduced from $200 to $0.
